Evelyn E. Verbsky, 1921-2014

Evelyn E. Verbsky, age 92 years, of Hillsboro, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg, Wisconsin.

She was born on June 2, 1921 to Frank and Cecelia (Vlasak) Machovec on the family farm in the Town of Glendale, Monroe County, Wisconsin.  Evelyn was united in marriage to William J. Verbsky on Nov. 4, 1942 in Hillsboro.  Together they farmed in the Town of Greenwood, Vernon County, for many years.  He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1999.

She was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro and the Altar Society.  They were also part of the Czech Singers at many Cesky Den events.  Evelyn enjoyed her family and friends and was often busy cooking and baking, which included bread and kolache among other items.  Gardening and quilting were also activities she liked.

Survivors include her children, Arlene (Steve) Daines of Valley, Joan (David) Leak of LaValle and William (Cindy) Verbsky of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Wendy, Jim, David, Julie, Tara, Jonathan and Brenda and great grandchildren, Kelsey, Kaitlyn, Ethan, Abbie, Josh, Mason, Brock, Leslie and Dawson.

In addition to her husband, William; she was preceded in death by her Parents; daughter, Patricia; and sisters, Lillian Pisha and Beverly Schumann.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro, with Father Don Bauer officiating.  Burial was in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro.  Friends called at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the Church on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.  For online information go to www.pichafuneralhomes.com
