Frances Veronica (Miller) Symons 97, passed away Jan. 26th, 2017 at the Lena Living Center, Lena, Ill. Funeral mass were 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 30th, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Gratiot. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Furlong Funeral Home, Shullsburg is in charge of arrangements. She was born on Dec. 4, 1919 in Hazel Green to parents William S. and Mary M. Miller.  She was a 52-year cancer survivor. Through the years she was involved with local 4-H clubs, Lafayette County Homemakers Association, St. Joseph’s Women’s Altar Society, Gratiot.  She was very active in the church being a lector whenever needed.  She also loved to garden and sew.
Survivors include her children Thomas Symons, of Dixon, Ill.; Terry Symons, of Hollywood, Fla.; John Symons, of Gratiot and Carole Sanders (Symons), of Orange Park, Fla.: 8 grandchildren Veronica, Christopher, Ann-Marie, Brian, Lori, Sarah, Tracie and Rex Jr.; 14 great grandchildren Eric, Rachel, Austin, Matthew, Adam, Ryan, Jordan, Josylin, Gabrielle, Connor, Maxwell, Ethan, Tristian and Zoey: 2 great-great grandchildren Aiden and Adeline.
Preceding her in death were her husband Charles, daughter Mary Kathleen, son James Matthew and her sister Hilda Bailey.
