Gerald D. “Jerry” Nethery age 77 of Monroe died on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 surrounded by his family at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Jerry was born on March 26, 1940 in Darlington, the son of Glendenning “Glen” and Ethel Viola (Moore) Nethery. He graduated from Darlington High School in 1958. Jerry married Joyce Lee on Sept. 4, 1960 at the United Methodist Church in Darlington. Following their marriage, Jerry worked in the hardware industry before purchasing and operating the Towne House Restaurant in Darlington for 10 years. He then began his career in hardware sales and retired as a Regional Marketing Manager with Ace Hardware Corporation where he earned numerous awards. Following his retirement in 2003, Jerry continued his passion of helping people in the hardware industry by working at the Monroe Ace Hardware Store.
Family, friends, faith and hard work were what Jerry valued most.  He cherished the time with his family and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren’s activities.  He had a passion for woodworking and had a spotless and fully equipped workshop.  He was also an avid Badger & Packer fan. Jerry’s faith was also a very important part of who he was. A family tradition of Jerry’s prayers before meals will be forever treasured and deeply missed. Jerry and Joyce enjoyed traveling with family and friends and he lived life to the fullest.
He was always deeply involved and an active member in his church, wherever they resided as well as an active member of the Darlington Chamber of Commerce, was a member of the Evening Star Lodge #64 in Darlington, and a past member of the Darlington Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Nethery of Monroe; two daughters, Jennifer (Dan) Jacobson of Monroe and Amy (Ted) Thomas of Argyle; grandchildren, Sarah Jacobson of Monroe, Tom (Heather) Jacobson of Oregon, Laura Jacobson of Monroe, Abby (Drew) Geissbuhler of McFarland, Amber Thomas (Tyler Lincoln) of Juda, and Nathan Thomas of Argyle; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Braden, and Cooper Jacobson and Brenna Lincoln. Jerry is further survived by his brother, Marvin (Alice) Nethery, Summerfield, Fla.; a sister, Carol Homb of Darlington; in-laws, Stuart (Colette) Lee of Elburn, Ill., Margie Lee of Darlington, Roberta (Ron) Woods of Janesville, Karen Lee of Shullsburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gladys (Clayton) Olson and Glenda (Charles Jr.) Galle; a brother-in-law, Jerry Homb; a nephew, Nick Galle; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Frances Lee; and in-laws, Robert Lee, Roger “Trig” Lee, Thea Jane Pfefferkorn, and Stephen Lee.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church, 2227 4th Street, with Reverend Randy Booth officiated.  Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery, Darlington. Visitation was at the church on Sunday, Feb. 25 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
