Gracie “Murry” Murrylee Bohland, 86, formerly of Retreat, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove.

She was born in Panama City, Florida on April 29, 1926 to Albert James and Grace Payton (Waldo) Ostrander. Gracie grew up and worked at a cotton gin in Marianna, Florida. During WWII, while in Marianna, she was hired at the U. S. Airbase and later trained as a riveter and worked there until 1944. During that time she met and married Willard E. Bohland on January 19, 1944. In 1945 the couple moved to the DeSoto are where Willard was originally from. Gracie raised her children and then went back to work as an electrician in 1965 and worked for Archie Jacobus. In 1977 she started working at Northern Engraving and worked there for 16 years. She then enjoyed helping cook at the Ferryville Nutrition Center. Gracie enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and especially baking cookies. She was also very fond of cats and was known to care for and feed homeless cats. Gracie will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Gracie is survived by her children, Gail (Gary) Adams, Soldiers Grove, Cheryl (Dennis) Grundahl, Columbus, David (Chris) Bohland, England, Michelle (Elmer) Schobert, Retreat; grandchildren, Monte Adams, Dawn (Brian Swiggum) Adams, Shelby Bohland, Todd (Lori) Grundahl, Jason (Holly) Grundahl; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Dora) Ostrander of Florida; sister-in-law, Shirley Ostrander of Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Willard E. Bohland on April 22, 1985 and by four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Retreat Methodist Church, rural DeSoto. Officiating at the service was Pastor Karen Bankes with burial in the Walnut Mound Cemetery, Retreat. Corinne Ursek was the organist. Honorary casket bearers were Zachary McCann, Jaylee Grundahl, Aleah Grundahl, Trace Grundahl, Tucker Grundahl, Maddox Grundahl, Erik Schlafer, Michelle Schlafer, Natashia Adams and Tiahna Adams. Casket bearers were Monte Adams, Todd Grundahl, Jason Grundahl, Trey Hutchison, Dawn Adams and Shelby Bohland. Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 15 at the Reetz Funeral Home in Viroqua.
