Greg T. Martin age 51 of rural Hazel Green, passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 19, 1959, in Cuba City, the son of Thomas and Helen (Aird) Martin. Greg graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1977. He worked for a number of farmers until February of 1981 when he started farming on his own in the Shullsburg area. In 1999, Greg moved to rural Hazel Green where he began farming with his sons. His whole life was about farming and was always quick to cut the hay.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 1, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 344 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg with Rev. Cy Weisensel and Rev. Anthony S. Aakula co-celebrating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery in rural Shullsburg. A visitation was held Aug. 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home, 235 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg and today from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
