Lawrence Ray Powell, 78, Tomah, died after a short illness on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, surrounded by family at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.

He was born May 23, 1936, to Clifford and Edith Powell in Boscobel, where he was raised and graduated from high school. He then served four years in the United States Air Force and was stationed in New Mexico and Alaska.

Memorial services were held Saturday, January 3, 2015,  at the United Methodist Church in Tomah. Rev. William McBride officiated.

In lieu of gifts, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church or the Tomah Lions Club.

The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah assisted the family with arrangements.
