Leland “Lee” R. Foecking, 69, of Galena, Ill. passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 surrounded by his family after his long battle with lung cancer. He fought it to the very end with courage and dignity.
Lee was born on Dec. 20, 1944, son of the late Edwin and Jeanne (Moschel) Foecking in Dubuque, Iowa.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galena, Ill. with Father David Reese officiating. Burial with military honors by the Galena VFW POST #2665 and American Legion Post #193 was at the Pilot Knob Cemetery in Galena, Ill. Friends called from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena, where a parish rosary was recited at 4 p.m.

The family would like to thank Dr. Herman and staff at Dubuque Internal Medicine, also Hospice of Dubuque for the loving care they have provided to Lee and his family during his battle with cancer.
