Linda Lou Peterson, 77 of Arlington Heights, Ill. and formerly Shullsburg, passed away June 5, 2016 at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb, Ill. Funeral service was at 11 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 226 West Church Street, Shullsburg. Burial was in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery, Shullsburg. The Furlong Funeral Home, Shullsburg is assisting the family. She was born May 25, 1939 in White Oak Springs Township the daughter of Thomas and Doris (Poppa) Coulthard. Linda graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1957 and went on to Minneapolis for four months to business school. She was united in marriage to Tom Peterson on June 3, 1961 in Shullsburg and he preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1990. Linda started working for BNSF railroad at the age of 18 in Chicago, Ill. She had many different jobs during her 58 plus years with BNSF.  Her last 18 years were at Clarendon Hills as a ticket agent. She often said, “I love my job and the people here are so wonderful to me.”  Linda enjoyed going back to the farm in White Oak Springs and traveling with her niece and great nephew. She is survived by her sister, Virginia (Paul) O’Brien of Rockford, Ill., her niece, Laura O’Brien-Neill and her great nephew, Bryan Neill both of DeKalb. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
