Margaret C. “Peggy” North, age 69 of Darlington, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 7, 2017 at UW-Hospital in Madison. She was born Sept. 1, 1947 in Iola, Kan. the daughter of Raymond and Frances (Kinney) Pollman. Peggy graduated from Humboldt High School in 1965 Humboldt Kansas. She was united in marriage to Charlie W. North on April 8, 1967 in Humboldt. Peggy grew up in Humboldt. Following her marriage to Charlie they moved to Darlington in 1970. She led a very busy life working for a number of places in the Darlington area starting with Reinoehl, Belanger & Haverty Law Office and Citizens National Bank. In 2000, Peggy purchased Jen’s Fashions until retiring from there in 2010. She then took a part-time position at Johnson Public Library and Hartig Drug. In late 2015 up until the present time, Peggy worked full-time for Our Lady of Fatima Parish at Holy Rosary Church as their secretary and treasurer.
Peggy is survived by her husband Charlie at home; two daughters: Stephanie (John) Lange of Darlington and Debbie (Dan) Weaver of Evansville; four grandchildren: Kayla (Scott Gibbons) Lange, Tyler Lange, Jeremy (Haley) Weaver, and Ryan (Kelly) Weaver; one great-granddaughter: Addison Weaver; one brother: Jerry (Teresa) Pollman of Sand Springs, Okla.; four brothers-in-law: Bill (Margie) North and Dick “Fuzzy” (Jean) North both of Darlington, George Anderson of Scales Mound, Ill., and Rick Gile of Dubuque, Iowa; one sister-in-law: Sheila (Pat) Ohms of Scales Mound; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters-in-law: Carol Anderson, Diane Gile, and Marian Schony.
Peggy was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its CCW. She was also a proud member of Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Darlington Friendship Fund, and other civic organizations over the years. She enjoyed spending her free time crocheting and reading. Peggy cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren creating memories that her family will remember forever. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) With Rev. John Bosco Pudhota and Rev. Joji Reddy Con-Celebrating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church where a rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. A visitation will also be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
