MarJean Andrews, age 85 of Shullsburg passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She was born August 15, 1930 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Wilda Murray.  MarJean graduated from Benton High School. She was united in marriage to Leonard J. “Sonny” Andrews on March 27, 1948 in Dubuque. MarJean grew up in Benton with her grandparents, Ambrose and Laura Murray due to her mother’s illness. After her marriage to Sonny they moved to the Shullsburg area where they farmed. MarJean worked at the Shullsburg Home for many years as an aide.
MarJean is survived by four children: Dennis (Beverly) Andrews of Minneapolis, Minn., Kay Shepherd of Shullsburg, Sharon Eggleston of McFarland, and Lynn (Dan) Schmitz of Rochester, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Joyce (Floyd) Tyson of Shullsburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother; husband Sonny on May 18, 2008; two sons-in-law: Joe Shepherd and Michael Eggleston; one nephew: Sammy Teasdale; and three brothers and sisters-in-law: Marjorie (Art) Hall, Charlotte (Donald) Teasdale, and Norma (Russell) Hauser.
MarJean was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg and its Women’s Fellowship Group. She and Sonny were known for their hospitality and their ability to make their family and friends feel very welcome. She enjoyed dancing to Big Band Music, motorcycling with her friends in her younger years, and sharing treats with her children and grandchildren. MarJean was an avid Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Shullsburg Miners, and Milwaukee Brewers fan. She loved to read, crochet, make afghans for her family, friends and donating some of them to the veterans.  She also enjoyed spending time outside bird watching. MarJean always looked forward to her Christmas in July in Shullsburg with her family.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg) with Rev. Jeffrey A. Meyer of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
