Marvin J. Landsinger, 83, of La Crosse, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at Sterling House of La Crosse.

He was born Oct. 23, 1931, in Valton, Wis., to Joseph and Elenore (Libansky) Landsinger. Marvin graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1949. He was drafted into the United States Army in Oct. of 1952 and served in the Korean Conflict from May of 1953 until Aug. of 1954. Marvin continued serving in the United States Army Reserves until 1970, when he transferred to the United States Naval Reserves, serving until his retirement in 1987, with the rank of Chief Construction Electrician. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering, then moved to La Crosse in 1958. He was employed at Trane Company until his retirement in 1996. Marvin also taught air conditioning at Western Wisconsin Technical School for several years. He was also employed at Wichelt Imports for ten years. Marvin volunteered at Gundersen Health System for several years. On June 3, 1961, Marvin married Dorothy Saverda at First Congregational United Church of Christ in La Crosse. Together they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and several foreign countries. Marvin also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre tournaments, dancing, and reading. He was very proud of his two sons, their wives, and his grandchildren.

Marvin was was a longtime member of First Congregational U.C.C. in La Crosse where he served on the Board of Stewardship and the Board of Finance and Facilities, along with other church activities. Marvin was a member of the Stoddard American Legion Post 315, the La Crosse Moose Family Center #1920, the 10th F.A.B. Association, the Third Infantry Division Association, the Korean Association, and past Commander and life member of the Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530 of La Crosse.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Scott (Kathy) and Kevin (Julie); three grandchildren, Olivia, Dylan, and Amelia; one sister, Marcella (Earl) Norton; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Landsinger; one brother-in-law, Norman Diece; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Leona Diece; and three brothers, Leo, Harold (Karen) and Ernest.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2503 Main St., La Crosse. Rev. Tom Uphaus officiated. Following the funeral services, military honors were rendered at the church by the Stoddard American Legion Post 315, the La Crosse VFW Post 1530, and the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard. Private burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. A visitation was held from 10 a.m., until the time of service Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Congregational U.C.C. in La Crosse or the Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530 of La Crosse.
