Neil Zajicek, 90, of rural Soldiers Grove, died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at his home.

He was born on December 14, 1921 to John and Bessie (Kimmel) Zajicek. On November 25, 1944 he was united in marriage to Ethel Barlow in Trempealeau. Neil farmed his entire life and was a member of the Jehovah Witness Congregation in Viroqua. He loved to garden and enjoyed the outdoors. Neil had worked as an apple picker at orchards in the Gays Mills area.

Neil is survived by two children, Gene (Alison) Zajicek of Alabama and Karen (Patrick) Mountain of Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings, Melvin Zajicek, Harlon (Jane) Zajicek, Geraldine (Richard) Leenhouts and Kathel (Robert) Greenwood; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel in 2007; four siblings, Orland, Virgil, Ralph and Marilyn Figie.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at noon at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Burial was in the Gays Mills Cemetery. Friends called on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. and again on Friday after 11 a.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills.
