Shirley M. Schwartz, 88, of Belvidere, Ill., passed away, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Maple Crest Care Center after a short illness. She was born Sept. 30, 1928 in Darlington, daughter of Bert and Alma (Hexom) Carpenter. She married Gerald “Jerry” Schwartz on Feb. 18, 1947 in Darlington. Shirley worked at JCPenney in Belvidere until her retirement. She was a member of Saint James Catholic Church. Shirley was a member of the Looney Club, Women’s Club and she was a cheerio in the Farmettes. She had a full life and enjoyed traveling the world. Shirley had a great love and pride for her family and friends.
Shirley is loved and missed by her children, Judy (Steve) Schabacker, Becky Mayberry, and Larry Schwartz; grandchildren, Lori (Paul) Ollmann, Dan (Jean) Schabacker, Brad (Richel) Mayberry, Paula Mayberry, Matt Mayberry and Mike (Allison) Mayberry; great-grandchildren, Matt (Stephanie), Emily, and Katie Ollmann, Chris, Steven, and Michelle Schabacker, Austin, Kallon, Preston, Lilah, and Grace Mayberry; sister, Arlene Hirsbrunner; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry, siblings, Harold Carpenter, LaVerne Carpenter, and Inez Mueller.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, Ill. with Deacon Armando Regalado officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery.
