Wilmer L. Penshorn, age 86 of Hillsboro passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse.

He was born on May 28, 1927 at the family homestead in Woodland Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin the son of Ernest and Laura (Hellpap) Penshorn. Wilmer was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wonewoc, having been baptized and confirmed there.  He was married to Patricia Berndt on June 10, 1953 and was able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary prior to his passing. He enjoyed being a dairy farmer all his life on the Century family farm.  He was proud of his three sons and his grandchildren.  A loving husband, father and grandfather whose quiet demeanor emphasized his life.  He was a past school board member for St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Wonewoc and he enjoyed watching the Brewers and Green Bay Packer games.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Ervin and Gordon, an infant sister and a sister-in-law, Mae.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia of Hillsboro; his sons: Dennis (VI) Penshorn of Reedsburg, Daryl (Theresa) Penshorn of LaValle, Kent (Ellen) Penshorn of Reedsburg; his grandchildren: Melanie, Zachery (Noelle), Kristin (Lazaro), Nicole, David (Carly); his great Grandson: Max; A sister: Ardith (Jim) Nelson of Barneveld; Brother-in-law: Dale Berndt and friend (Dorothy Jensen) of Wonewoc; many nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

We honored his life with a funeral service which was conducted on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wonewoc with Pastor Peter Snyder officiating.  Visitation was held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial followed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Wonewoc with military rites by the American Legion Post 206 of Wonewoc. Memorials to the New Sign Fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

The Thompson Funeral Home of Wonewoc assisted the family with the arrangements.
