Southwestern junior Hannah Lacey poured in a career-high 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Wildcats' 74–54 season-opening victory over Benton last Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Hannah Lacey, Jr., F, Southwestern girls basketball

Southwestern junior Hannah Lacey opened the 2020–21 season with a bang. Lacey poured in a career-high 33 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds in a 74–54 win over visiting Benton last Tuesday, Nov. 24,  then finished with a game-high 15 points, five rebounds and four assists to lead Southwestern in a 64–32 loss at Belmont on Friday, Nov. 27. Lacey averaged 6.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game a year ago as a sophomore for the Wildcats, who finished 4–19 overall and 2–12 in the SWAL.


HONORABLE MENTION (in alphabetical order)
Bridee Burks, Jr., PG, Lancaster girls basketball
Burks did it all in Lancaster's 54–40 non-conference victory over visiting Potosi/Cassville Tuesday night. The junior point guard scored a co-team-high 18 points on an efficient 6 of 11 shooting, grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, passed out a team-high seven assists and made six of Lancaster's 18 steals. Burks also posted 12 points, 7 steals, five rebounds and two assists in just 17 minutes in a dominating 57–19 season-opening victory over Boscobel Saturday night.


Camryn Nies, So., PG, Platteville girls basketball
Nies made 4 of 7 3-point attempts and finished with a game-high 19 points, three rebounds and two steals in Platteville's 54–29 non-conference victory over Darlington Tuesday night. She also had a team-high 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals in a 54–40 non-conference season-opening victory over Dubuque Hempstead last Tuesday, Nov. 24.


Faith Webb, Sr., F, River Ridge girls basketball
Webb's 15-foot jumper at the buzzer lifted River Ridge to a 46–45 non-conference victory over visiting Fennimore Saturday night in the season-opener for both teams. Webb finished with six points and four rebounds for the winners.
