PLATTEVILLE — The 2023 Platteville Women’s Golf Invitational was held last Wednesday, Aug. 9 with 64 women competing on 16 teams.  

It was a 4-lady best shot scramble with teams participating from Cuba City’s Cole Acres, Galena Public Course, Galena’s Eagle Ridge, Lancaster Country Club, Mount Horeb’s Norsk Golf Club, Platteville Golf & Country Club, Prairie du Chien Country Club and Dubuque’s Thunder Hills.  

The day was started with some of the Platteville men greeting the ladies and helping them with their clubs. 

A photo booth gave entertainment while the women waited for the tournament to start.

The winners in the first flight were Shannon Jensen, Steph Miller, Dawn Snider and Kelly Taylor from Lancaster Country Club taking first place with a 65.  

Second place went to Tina Felderman, Pam Lewey, Jane Peterson and Sue White from Thunder Hills with a 66.   

Third place went to Shari G., Amy Halderman, Chance Stevens and Julie Timmerman from Thunder Hills with a 67.

The winners of the second flight were Galena’s Judy Jackson, Donna Miller, Tammy Stephenson and Connie Wienen with a 75.  

There was a three-way tie for second and third place with a 76. Second place was awarded to Kelly Faherty (Platteville), Kellie Oppclt, Jullie Skubal (Platteville), and Wendy Smith.

Third place went to Anita Adams, Judy Lehnis, Judy McDermott and Becky Steffen from Thunder Hills.

An awards dinner, prizes and raffle items were held immediately following the golf.
