UWPlatteville's Williams Fieldhouse will host a trio of prep indoor track and field meets over the next three days, beginning with tonight's UWPlatteville High School Invitational.

GAME OF THE WEEK (March 23–29)

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD:

     Spring sports are officially underway. The University of Dubuque held a 23-team indoor track meet last Friday and Saturday and UW–Platteville held its first indoor meet of the season Tuesday night. The action continues at UWP’s Williams Fieldhouse with three more prep indoor meets over the next three days. Here is a look at the upcoming events. 

 

UW–Platteville High School Indoor Invitational, at UW–Platteville, Thursday, March 23, 5 p.m.

     UW–Platteville will host its second prep indoor meet of the season tonight. Team attending include: Albany, Belmont, Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg, Cassville, Deerfield, Dodgeville/Mineral Point, Easton Valley, Lancaster, Potosi, River Ridge, Riverdale, Southwestern, Stoughton, Westby and Wisconsin Heights. No team scores will be kept at this early-season event.

 

Tri-State Large Schools Indoor Meet, at UW–Platteville, Friday, March 24, 5 p.m.

    Thirteen teams will compete in Friday night’s Tri-State Large Schools meet at UW–Platteville’s Williams Fieldhouse. Competing teams include: Davenport West, Dodgeville/Mineral Point, Freeport, Marshall, Milton, Mount Horeb, Oregon, Platteville, Sun Prairie and Viroqua.

 

Tri-State Small Schools Indoor Meet, at UW–Platteville, Saturday, March 24, 9 a.m.

     Twenty-eights teams will compete in Saturday’s Tri-State Smalls Schools meet. Competing teams include: Albany, Bangor, Belleville, Benton, Boscobel, Brodhead, Camanche (Ill.), Cambridge, Cascade (Iowa), Darlington, Deerfield, Dodgeland, Durant (Iowa), Easton Valley Community, Evansville, Fennimore, Lena-Winslow (Ill.), Lodi, Madison Country Day, Monticello, Northeast, Parkview, Potosi, Prairie du Chien, Richland Center, Southwestern, Wauzeka-Steuben and Westby.

 

 

PREP SOFTBALL:

     The WIAA softball season began with practice around the state on Monday, March 13. Weather permitting, area games begin next week. Here are a look at games scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.

     Lancaster (0–0) at Belmont (0–0), Monday, March 27, 5 p.m.

     Black Hawk (0–0) at Monroe (0–0), Monday, March 27, 5 p.m.

     Wauzeka–Steuben (0–0) at Boscobel, Tuesday, March 28, 4:30 p.m.

     Potosi (0–0) at Southwestern (0–0), Tuesday, March 28, 4:30 p.m.

     Riverdale at North Crawford (0–0), Tuesday, March 28, 4:30 p.m.   

     Belmont (0–0) at Cuba City, Tuesday, March 28, 5 p.m.

     Dodgeville (0–0) at Black Hawk (0–0), Tuesday, March 28, 4:30 p.m.
