PREP SOFTBALL: WIAA regional quarterfinals, Tuesday, May 23
The WIAA regional playoffs begin Tuesday with games throughout the state. This year the WIAA has expanded to five divisions affecting a number of area small school teams. The winners of Tuesday’s regional quarterfinals will advance to Wednesday’s regional semifinals. The regional finals will be held next Friday. Here are a look at Tuesday’s area first-round match-ups.

BOYS GOLF: WIAA regionals
WIAA Division 2 Platteville Regional (at Platteville Golf & CC), Tuesday, May 23, 9 a.m.
Participating teams: Dodgeville, Mauston, Platteville (SWC champion), Prairie du Chien, Richland Center, River Valley (SWC runner-up), Viroqua/North Crawford, Westby and Wisconsin Dells. SWC Champion Platteville is the regional favorite, sporting a 163.45 team average per nine holes this season.
The top 4 teams and top four individual not on a qualifying team will advance to the D2 Viroqua/North Crawford sectional on Wednesday, May 31 at Viroqua Hills GC.
WIAA Division 3 New Glarus Regional (at Edelweiss Chalet CC), Tuesday, May 23, 9 a.m.
Participating teams: Argyle/Pecatonica (SWAL runner-up), Barneveld, Cuba City, Darlington, Fennimore, Iowa–Grant, Lancaster, Mineral Point (SWAL champion), New Glares and Southwestern/Benton. SWAL champion Mineral Point enters regional play with the best nine-hole team averaged at 180.18, followed by New Glarus (182.0), Argyle/Pecatonica (183.94) and Barneveld (185.0).
The top 4 teams and top four individual not on a qualifying team will advance to the D3 Markesan sectional on Tuesday, May 30 at Lawsonia GC (Green Lake).
TRACK & FIELD: WIAA regionals
WIAA Division 2 Lancaster Regional, Monday, May 22, 4 p.m.
Participating teams: Dodgeville/Mineral Point, Lancaster, Mount Horeb, Platteville, Prairie du Chien, Richland Center, River Valley, Viroqua and Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld.
The top 4 four finishers in each event will advance to the D2 McFarland Sectional on Thursday, May 24.
WIAA Division 3 Boscobel Regional, Monday, May 22, 3:30 p.m.
Participating teams: Boscobel, Fennimore, Ithaca, North Crawford, River Ridge, Riverdale, Seneca and Wauzeka–Steuben.
The top 4 four finishers in each event will advance to the D3 Bangor Sectional on Thursday, May 24.
WIAA Division 3 Cuba City Regional, Monday, May 22, 3 p.m.
Participating teams: Belmont, Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg, Black Hawk, Cassville, Cuba City, Darlington, Monticello, Pecatonia/Argyle, Potosi and Southwestern.
The top 4 four finishers in each event will advance to the D3 Bangor Sectional on Thursday, May 24.
