Former college scholar-athletes will coach at camp

Wonewoc-Center will host a boys and girls basketball camp  featuring former collegiate athletes Courtney Lewis and Jasper Duberry for four-eight students interested in developing, improving and learning new basketball skills and strategies Aug. 18-19 at the Wonewoc-Center School.

Lewis is a former collegiate and scholar athlete from Prairie du Chien. She attended Prairie du Chien High School, where she started varsity for four years while serving as a captain for two of them. During her senior year, Lewis helped lead her team to the Wisconsin state high school tournament for the first time in 20 years.

For her collegiate career, Lewis attended the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, where she served as a captain for two years and was in the starting lineup for all four years. Lewis has earned the Rookie of the Year Award, Defensive Player of the Year Award, the Blugold Award, and the MVP Award twice while playing under head coach Tonja Englund. Lewis was named to the WIAC’s honorable mention team twice and received first team recognition her senior year. Lewis finished in the top 20 in Eau Claire’s record books in all categories but seven.

She is currently coaching high school girls, coaching at various basketball camps, and providing individual workouts for girls in grades 7-12.

Duberry is a former collegiate and scholar athlete from Brooklyn Park, MN. Duberry attended Champlin Park High School (Champlin, MN) where he was in the varsity starting lineup for three years while serving as a captain for two of them. During his senior year, Duberry helped lead his team to the Minnesota state high school tournament.

He attended Viterbo University in La Crosse, where he served as a captain for three years and was in the starting lineup for his four years there.

Duberry has six-plus years of coaching youth basketball and is currently coaching with the Minnesota Heat – where he is projected to have 8+ players go on to play college basketball. He also enjoys art, watching/making movies as well as traveling with friends and family.
