SOLDIERS GROVE — The Hillsboro boys track team won five events, finished second in three others and scored 103 points to finish third out of 10 teams at last Tuesday’s North Crawford Invitational.
Senior Matt Bartels won four gold medals in the meet. The speedy Bartels won the 100-meter dash in 11.36 seconds, while finishing first in both the long jump (18–8.25) and triple jump (37–6).
He also teamed with Max Sebranek, Warren Paulson and Noah Mayberry to win the 4x100 relay in 48.63 seconds.
Sebranek won the 300 hurdles in 45.80 and turned in a third-place finish in the 110 hurdles (19.67).
Paulson finished second in the 110 hurdles with a season-best time of 17.89 seconds and second in the 300 hurdles (45.80).
Mayberry finished second in the 3,200 (10:57.90).
Brody Fanshaw placed third in the shot put with a toss of 37–7.75 and fourth in the discus (96–9).
In the girls’ competition Hillsboro scored 63 points and finished fourth as a team.
Bridgett Madden placed second in the discus (88–3) and fifth in the shot put (27–1).
Kenzie Sullivan earned a bronze medal in the high jump by clearing 4–8 and placed fourth in the triple jump (28–5.5).
Morgan Huntley placed fourth in the shot put (27–9).
The quartet of Shauna Parish, Breanna Beaver, Michaela Bach and Adrianna Reese placed third in the 4x400 relay (4:59.26).
Last Thursday’s eight-team Royall Invitational was cancelled due to rain and will not be made up.
Results from Monday’s Kickapoo Lee Griffin Invitational were not available at press time. Results will appear in next week’s Sentry Enterprise.
Hillsboro will return to action at Saturday’s Cashton Invitational. The Tigers will also compete in Monday’s Boscobel Relays.
