Conference victory for Seneca girls

Seneca softball traveled to LaFarge on Monday night for an 8-3 conference victory.

Seneca started out with a hit by Morgan Wall. Michaela Chambers followed with a walk and Jena Konichek had a single hit to load the bases. Taylor Redman then hit the ball over the fence for a grand slam home run to make the score to 4-0.

LaFarge responded with a run of the own and Seneca remained in the lead 4-1.

Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning, when LaFarge's scored on a throwing error by Seneca, to make the score 4-2.

Seneca then rallied for four more runs in the top of the seventh, when Jena Konichek got on base with a hit to short. Taylor Redman followed with a double to center. Nicole Manders then tripled to center which scored Konichek and Redman. Manders scored on a hit by Shawna Sprosty to short. Becky Trautsch then had a sacrifice fly to left that scored Sprosty and Shania Sprosty followed with a double to left, to make it 8-2.

LaFarge then loaded the bases and stole home on throwing error by Seneca. Final score Seneca – 8, LaFarge – 3.

Morgan Wall started the game with 3 strike-outs, 3 walks, and gave up one hit. Brianna Brockway took the win for Seneca with 4 strike-outs, 1 walk and gave up 5 hits.. Morgan Wall was 2×3 with a double, Jena Konichek was 3×4 with a double, Taylor Redman was 4×4 with a double and a grand slam home-run, Nicole Manders was 3×4 with a triple, and Shania Sprosty was 1×4 with a double.
