MUSCODA — Hillsboro cross country coach Ben Leis used Saturday’s Riverdale Invitational as a tune up for this week’s Scenic Bluffs Conference championships.

Running with a full team for the first time in nearly a month, the Hillsboro girls placed sixth out 12 teams with 126 points. River Valley won the girls’ team title with 49 points.

Junior Adriana Reese led the way with a 13th-place finish in 18:02.

Sophomore Breanna Beaver was next with a 17th-place, 18:35 finish.

Juniors Michaela Bach (20th, 18:44) and Macey Brown (32nd, 19:26) and sophomore Destiny Shore (44th, 21:11) rounded out Hillsboro's thin varsity lineup.

The boys results at the Riverdale Invitational were recorded incorrectly and official times and places were unavailable at press time Tuesday afternoon.

Seniors Noah Mayberry (fourth) and Logan Rohn (seventh) each ran to top 10 finishes to lead the Hillsboro boys to a fifth-place team finish.

Hillsboro will host the SBC Championships Thursday afternoon at Spring Valley.

“I was proud of the kids for going out hard at this meet,” said Leis. “We use this meet to prep us for conference. We are very excited for Thursday. Macey Brown and Avery Rueckheim had big races on Saturday. They are very vital to how our team will fare on Thursday.”
