NECEDAH — Hillsboro senior Max Sebranek earned his second trip to the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament at Saturday’s Division 3 Necedah Sectional.

Sebranek (34–9) went 2–1 and placed second at 195 pounds.

The Hillsboro senior soundly defeated Jeff Milz (30–8) of Kickapoo/La Farge 8–2 in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Sebranek then defeated Fennimore’s Logan Sheckles  (31–4) 6–4 in the semifinals to reach the championship match and guarantee himself a berth in this weekend’s state tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison.

Sebranek finished his tournament with a narrow 8–6 loss to Mineral Point’s Nate Cody (24–17).

Sebranek will begin his state tournament again Mitch Lein (33–7) of Clear Lake in Thursday’s Division 3 preliminary round that begins at 7:15 p.m.

A year ago Sebranek qualified for state at 182 pounds, but did not place. He lost his opening round match and finished his junior season 21–9.
