Last Tuesday the Hillsboro wrestling team fell to 1–4 overall and 1–3 in Scenic Bluffs dual meets with a 57–18 loss to visiting New Lisbon.
The Rockets won seven of the 10 contested matches, including six via pin, and picked up forfeit victories at 160, 182 and 285 pounds to dominate the match.
Hillsboro picked up wins from Mitchell Morris at 113 pounds, Nolan Hammer at 145 and Max Sebranek at 195, all by pin.
Morris (6–12) scored a second-period pin of Clayton Graham at the 2:20 mark.
Hammer (12–11) pinned Marshal Toelle 1:44 into the first period. Hammer became just the second Hillsboro wrestler to achieve a winning record this season.
Sebranek (22–6), the winningest Tiger this winter, picked up his 22nd victory of the season by pinning Lucas Kleifgen in 1:24.
On Saturday, Sebranek and fellow senior Logan Rohn participated in the 20-team Sparta Invitational.
Both Rohn and Sebranek missed time earlier with injuries and were eligible to wrestle another tournament.
Sebranek (25–7) went 3–1 and placed second at 195 pounds. He dropped a 3–2 decision to Edgar’s Wesley Dittman in the championship match.
Meanwhile Rohn (5–16) went 0–2 and did not place at 120.
Hillsboro’s regular season finale with Brookwood was postponed Tuesday due to freezing temperatures and will be made up at a later date.
The Tigers will travel to Brookwood High School in Ontario on Feb. 8 for the Scenic Bluffs/Ridge and Rivers combined conference tournament.
