SPRING GREEN— A perfect day and a month of training resulted in a number of personal best times for the Hillsboro cross country at Saturday’s River Valley Invitational.

“Overall times were very fast,” said Hillsboro head coach Ben Leis. “It was a beautiful day to run with highs in the mid 70s. We had lots of PRs and numerous kids broke into new minute barriers.”

Senior Noah Mayberry posted a season-best 17:09 to lead the Hillsboro boys. He placed 11th in the small schools division.

Fellow senior Logan Rohn placed 18th with a time of 17:39.

The Hillsboro boys finished seventh as a team with 238 points. Boscobel just edged out Darlington 96–97 to win the boys’ small schools title.

Junior Adriana Reese once again led the Hillsboro girls with a 27th-place finish (17:34.72). Michaela Bach (31st), Breanna Beaver (54th) and Destiny Shore (84th) rounded out the Lady Tigers’ incomplete lineup.

Macey Brown missed the meet with a sprained ankle sustained at the Westby Invitational. She will miss at least two weeks.
The Darlington girls held off Boscobel, 63–70, to prevent a Bulldog sweep of the team titles.

“I’m very happy with how the season is going, however both the boys and girls have their work cut out for them come conference,” added Leis. “We’re going to hit this week with some key workouts and see how Saturday goes at Brookwood.”

Hillsboro will compete in the Brookwood Invitational Saturday before traveling to the Holmen Invitational on Tuesday.
