The North Crawford boys’ basketball team took on the LaFarge Wildcats at home last Friday, Jan. 4 in what resulted in another victory for the 4-0 in conference Trojans (now 7-2 overall).

The 51-44 victory was kick-started by the intense play of the Trojans in the first period, when North Crawford jumped to an early 11-point lead – 18-7.

But the Wildcats clawed back in the second and third periods, both outscoring and outhustling the Trojans. By the middle of the third period, North Crawford trailed 37-32.

The fourth period was all North Crawford, and the Trojans scored 19 points while holding the Wildcats to just 10.

The Trojans really won the game on the free throw line, shooting 14 of 19 overall and 8 of 11 in the fourth period.

Senior Joe Childs scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds, four assists, and eight steals. Childs also went 4 for 4 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Senior Joe Bedessem added 11 points and had six rebounds and four assists. Junior Cody Herschberger added eight points and had 11 rebounds. Senior Jordan Barr added seven points and was three for four from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Junior Tyler Olson added three points and had two rebounds. 

The Trojans travel to Weston on Friday, Jan. 11 and host the Westby Norsemen on Monday, Jan. 14.
