BELMONT — Wausau Newman Catholic finished off an undefeated regular season by rolling over the host Belmont, 52–20, in an 8-player prep football game played Friday at BHS.

The #2-ranked Fighting Cardinals (9–0 overall, 6–0 Great 8) secured the outright Great 8 Conference title with the victory. The loss ended a six-game winning streak for the #3-ranked Braves (7–2, 5–2).

Senior quarterback Ben Bates threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score, while freshman Thomas Bates rushed for 274 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cardinals.
