Fast start leads Orioles over Warriors

BLACK HAWK Jett Rufenacht drilled a triple for one of the Warriors two hits in last Tuesdays Six Rivers East baseball game in Argyle.

    ARGYLE – Argyle’s Cameron Treuthardt fired a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts over five innings of work and his Orioles backed him with a seven-run outburst in the first inning en route to a 10-0 victory over the Black Hawk Warriors in a Six Rivers East baseball game played at Veterans Park on Tuesday, May 16.
    Brent Ritschard drove in two runs and Gavin Johnson scored twice for the Orioles, while Treuthardt helped his own cause by going 2-for-3 with a double, a run and a RBI.
    Preston Bevins drilled a double in the third inning and Jett Rufenacht ripped a triple in the fifth to account for the Warriors’ hits, but neither scored as the Warriors were shutout for the third consecutive game.
    Black Hawk’s Six Rivers’ cross doubleheader at Potosi was postponed due to rain on Friday, May 19. No make-up date was announced at press time.
    The Warriors received the #5-seed in their regional playoff bracket and will open the 2017 WIAA Division 4 state tournament series against #4-seed Southwestern in Hazel Green on Thursday, May 25, starting at 4:30 p.m.
    The winner advances to face top-seed Pecatonica at Blanchardville’s McKellar Park on Tuesday, May 30, at 5 p.m. The regional championship game will be held on Wednesday, May 31.
