Lady Chieftains survive at Benton, 6463
Langkamp
Senior Sophie Langkamp scored 15 points in Fridays 6463 Six Rivers West win at Benton. She then scored a career-high 30 points in Mondays 8055 non-conference rout at WauzekaStebuen.

BENTON — Abby Kaiser’s free throw with 2.5 seconds left lifted Potosi to a key 64–63 Six Rivers West road victory Friday night at Benton.

The Chieftains escaped after Emma Lawrence’s half court shot at the buzzer missed the mark.

Potosi led by 10 points with just under four minutes left, but missed seven of eight from the line to allow Benton back in the back.

The Zephyrs tied the game at 63 all with 30 seconds left after back-to-back 3-pointers, the last by Maggie Dougherty.

Potosi held for the final shot and Kaiser drew a foul with 2.5 seconds left. She missed the first, but hit the second to give the Chieftains a one-point win. She finished with a team-high 16 points.

Senior Sophie Langkamp added 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. Justice Udelhofen and Amber Udelhoven added 10 points apiece.

Monday night Kaiser poured in a game-high 33 points and Langkamp finished with a career-high 30 points and 13 rebounds in an 80–55 non-conference win at Wauzeka–Steuben, becoming the first pair of Potosi teammates to score 30 points in the same game.

Potosi (8–1) traveled to Cassville on Tuesday will return to action Friday at Shullsburg (9–2, 4–1 SRW). The Chieftains defeated the Miners 58–49 on Dec. 1.

“I’m grateful to be where we are right now but there is a long ways to go in the season,” said Potosi head coach Brad Bierman. “The girls are competing every night and have not taken any of our opponents for granted and that will have to continue for the season to end the way we hope for. Shullsburg is only one game behind us and is playing very well. If we take care of business (Tuesday), then Friday at Shullsburg will be a big game for us. Friday’s game will have a significant impact on the conference race.”
