MIDDLETON — The Platteville/Belmont/Lancaster gymnastics team traveled to Middleton over the weekend to compete in the fourth annual Cardinal Invitational.
    The Hillmen posted a team score of 125.95 to finish seventh out of eight teams at the primarily Division 1 event.
    Senior Grace Hammermeister placed 10th out of 22 gymnasts in the all-around with combined score of 33.55.
    She also won a silver medal on the floor exercise, placing second out of 40 with a score of 9.4, and she tied for fifth on the vault with an 8.55.
    Junior Allison Stader finished 16th in the all-around (31.60) and tied for 21st on the floor (8.55).
    Sophomore Lindsey Wolf placed 19th in the all-around (30.50). Her best event was a tie for 25th on the floor (8.4).
    Senior Brooke Pagliaro finished 21st in the all-around (29.3).
    “On Saturday, floor was out best event with several of the gymnasts having their best routines of the year,” said Hillmen head coach Jessica Hill. “There were several falls on beam and bars that we will need to avoid if we want to do well in the upcoming meets.”
    After Tuesday night’s home dual meet with Southwestern/Cuba City, the Hillmen will host their the Lisa Steger Memorial Invitational Saturday at Platteville High School.
