Rockets fire on all cylinders to down Braves

    BELMONT – Zach Loew ran for three touchdowns and Gunnar Pedersen threw for two more scores to fire the New Lisbon Rockets over Belmont, 48-0, in a non-conference prep football game at BHS on Friday, Sept. 23.
    Loew finished the night with 276 rushing yards on 16 carries, including TD runs of 96, 11 and 71 yards.
    New Lisbon outgained Belmont, 448-232, on the night, including a 341-67 edge on the ground. The Braves (0-6) outgained their guests, 165-107, through the air.
    Colin Austin completed 9-of-18 passes for 96 yards with two interceptions, while Jake Amenda went 1-for-1 passing for 69 yards and had four catches for 40 yards.
    Jake Wedig had two catches for 77 yards and three runs for 10 yards. Isaac Wiegel ran for 26 yards and had four catches for 48 yards, and Connor Wiegel added 26 yards rushing for the Braves.
    Defensively, J. Wedig was in on 18 tackles with eight solo stops and three tackles for loss. Simon Rossard added nine tackles, while I. Wiegel and Riely Cutler made six stops and Ray Althaus added five tackles.
     Belmont returns to Six Rivers Conference play with a game at Potosi (2-5, 2-4) on Friday, Sept. 30. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
