Brodhead outlasts Cuba City to capture regional crown

CUBA CITY — Top-seeded Brodhead rolled to a 15–4 decision in the crucial fifth set to defeat fourth-seeded Cuba City, 3–2, in a WIAA Division 3 regional championship volleyball match held at BHS on Saturday, Oct. 26.

“Brodhead plays with patience and finds ways to beat you, whether it be at the net or from the serve line. As much as the girls made every attempt we couldn’t work our way back,” said Cuba City head coach Keri Lawson. “It’s always tough to lose, and when you lose in five sets, it is heartbreaking.”

The night started off ominously for the Cubans with senior middle blocker Mati Terpstra tweaking her knee in warm-ups. She would miss the entire first set while being evaluated, but she would return in set two.
