Chieftains succeed at conference meet

MUSCODA - Riverdale’s senior runner Brian Mathews took fourth place in last Saturday’s, Oct. 13 conference race at Fennimore with a time of 17:27.   The boys’ team placed fifth overall. Dawson Mueller followed Mathews with a time of 20:43. Shale Meyer, Jeffrey Anderson, Kyle Hanke and Serhii Rohynskyy all ran together and finished within seconds of each other.  Lucas Schneider, Shale Meyer and Skyler Ewers all achieved personal bests at this meet. 

The girls team also ran well, with McKenzie Couey leading the way with a time of 27:03, Leah Underwood came in right behind her at 27:31 and Kenlee Mathews finishing with just over 30 minutes. 

Saturday takes the team back to Fennimore for sectionals. Competition begins at 11 a.m. for the boys' teams and 12 p.m. for the girls’ teams.

Those who advance to state will head to the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, Oct. 29.
