Junior pitcher Brea Stanton and her IowaGrant Panthers improved to 50 in the SWAL with a 43 victory over Boscobel last Tuesday. Stanton struck out five and allowed only two earned runs in the win.

BOSCOBEL — The Iowa–Grant softball team remained unbeaten in the Southwestern Wisconsin Activities League with a 4–3 victory at Boscobel Monday, April 21.
The Panthers built a 4–1 lead going into the final inning but had to survive some tense moments to move to 5–0  in SWAL play.
Anna Jones doubled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to ignite the Bulldogs’ final rally. Serris slapped an RBI single to make it 4–2, then Tayler King reached on an Iowa–Grant error to extend the game.
After Boscobel pulled within a run on a Kaylea Davis RBI single, Iowa–Grant junior pitcher Brea Stanton snared a hard hit comeback and tossed over to first for the final out. Stanton picked up her sixth win of the season allowing two earned runs on eight hits in the complete game victory.
Pinch runner Hannah Stevens scored on a throwing error in the second inning to give I–G a 1–0 lead.
The Panthers added a pair of runs when Taylor Jackson scored on a Boscobel error and Kaci Myers drove in Brittanie Lawinger with an RBI single. I–G added an insurance run in the fifth on another Boscobel error.
“Honestly it was not one of our best games, but we were very happy to come out with a win,” said I–G head coach Deanna Fulton. “We just have to hit a little more consistently.”
Last Tuesday the Panther bats went silent in a 3–0 loss to Barneveld, Iowa–Grant’s first loss of the season.
I–G was held to just four hits in the loss and committed four errors.
Udelhofen had a two-run single in the third for Barneveld to break the scoreless tie.
Friday afternoon Iowa–Grant bounced back with a 14–4 non-conference win at Potosi.
Taylor Jackson ripped an RBI double off the fence in the top of the first, then junior Kylie Moneypenny blasted a three-run homer to chase Potosi starter Emilie Rojemann before she recorded a single out.
Hannah Stevens blasted a two-run dinger in the fifth and Georgie Faull added a two-run single in the fifth.
The Panthers’ (7–1, 6–0 SWAL) game at Southwestern last Thursday was rained out and will be made up this Friday at 4:30 p.m. Monday’s SWAL game at Mineral Point was also postponed. I–G will return to action Thursday at home against Cuba City.
