BOSCOBEL - It was a hard fought match for the Lady Bulldogs volleyball team who took the loss at Fennimore, Thursday night, 2-5.

Boscobel hit the court ready to challenge, taking a 2-0 lead in the first two sets, 26-24, and 29-22.

The Golden Eagles rallied to win the following three sets to take the match, 21-25, 23-25, and 12-15.

“These were good, hard fought games,” said Coach Jeff Ostheimer. “We won the first two, so game three was a little letdown, losing by two points.”

The teams were very well matched, according to the coach. The outcome of the match was largely decided by the fourth set loss, though the Lady Bulldogs still fought hard in the fifth.

“Usually in volleyball, when you lose the fourth game, it’s very hard to come back and win the fifth,” said Coach Ostheimer.

Stat leaders for the match were:

Danielle Ernst – kills, 10

Casey Ostheimer – assists, 13

Emily Johnson – digs, 16

Vs. Cuba City

The Lady Bulldogs were back on the road Tuesday to face top seeded SWAL conference rival Cuba City.

“We played some good volleyball at times,” said the coach. “We just couldn’t maintain against such a well-established, solid team.”

The Bulldogs took the lost in three: 12-25, 9-25, 18-28.

“We played well at the beginning of most games, but hit tough play in the middles that we couldn’t recover from.”

Stat leaders for the match were:

Emily Johnson – aces, 3

Danielle Ernst and Casy Ostheimer – kills, 4 each

Lily Scallon – assists, 6

Ariel Rooney – digs, 4

Looking ahead

The Lady Bulldogs host conference rival Southwestern for Parents Night on Thursday, with play getting underway at 7:15 p.m.
