DARLINGTON GOLFER Kennedy Wagner was the Redbirds third varsity golfer in first-place performance at Lancaster (57) last Thursday and Cuba City (51) on Monday, and she was fourth on the team at Mt. Horeb (53) last Friday when the Birds turned in another first-place effort.

    DARLINGTON – The Darlington girls’ golf team notched three more first-place finishes in matches throughout the area last week to improve their record to 24-1 on the season.
    The Redbirds began the week by besting Lancaster, 215-243, in a league dual meet at the Lancaster Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 8.
    Alexi Wagner took home medalist honors with a round of 45, while Kinsey Gould was runner-up with a 49. Kennedy Wagner (57) and Cora Carpenter (64) rounded out the team scoring for the Redbirds.
    Brooke Marcue led the host Flying Arrows with a 51.
    The ‘Birds got right back at it on Friday, Sept. 9, finishing first at the Mount Horeb Triangular held at the Norsk Golf Club. Darlington carded a 203 on the day to finish nine strokes ahead of the host Vikings (212) and 22 strokes ahead of the Flying Arrows (225).
    Lancaster’s Marcue snagged medalist honors with a round of 46 on Friday, finishing two strokes ahead of Gould and the Vikings’ Alayna Kuntz, who both shot a 48.
    A. Wagner carded a 50, followed by Carpenter with a 52 and K. Wagner with a 53 for the ‘Birds.
    Finally, at Cuba City’s Cole Acres Country Club, on Monday, Sept. 12, the Redbirds earned their seventh first-place finish in eight matches this season by winning the Southwestern/Cuba City/Benton Quadrangular with a season-best nine-hole round of 196.
    The host Wildcats were second at 203, followed by Lancaster at 228 and Prairie du Chien at 230.
    Marcue earned medalist honors once again, besting A. Wagner in a scorecard playoff after each carded an eight-over 44 to finish in a first-place tie.
    Gould was fourth overall with a round of 47, while K. Wagner scored a 51 and Sydney Brandt followed with a 54 to lead the Redbirds to the team title by seven strokes.
    Darlington has a match at Prairie du Chien on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m., and then returns home to host the Blackhawks in a match at the Darlington Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 20, also at 4 p.m.
    The Redbirds will host the 2016 SWAL-SWC Meet at DCC on Wednesday, Sept. 21, starting at 9 a.m.
