CUBA CITY - Pure domination on the Cubans part was the reason behind the 54-6 final over Fennimore.

Cuba City head coach Guy Kopp credits his offensive line. "Corey Kaiser, Greg Ganter, Chad Lange, Brett Wilson, Trent Denlinger and Jeff Meckstroth opened the holes for our running back," Kopp said. "When you have 50 carries for 396 yards and seven touchdowns, it's just a good old fashion hard knocks football contest."

Alex Murphy scored two touchdowns in the first quarter while Brandon Slaats scored touchdowns in the first three quarters. "Brandon Slaats really stepped it up this game rushing 15 times for 153 yards," Kopp said. "He also had one interception on defense and recorded four tackles."

Jordan Huber scored his lone touchdown of the game on a 35-yard punt return to put the Cubans up 34-0. Grant Kunkel then scored on a 14-yard run to have the Cubans in the drivers seat with a 41-0 halftime lead.

"The offense is really putting it together and making less mistakes," Kopp said. "On the defense Lange and Murphy had three sacks apiece and the secondary Slaats, Cody Hoppenjan and Zach Crawford only allowed 17 yards through the air. This was a real good game for us a lot of players got into the game and with that it shows us coaches we have a lot of guys ready to fill in on Friday nights.

Cuba City travels to Riverdale tomorrow (Friday) night before hosting Iowa-Grant for homecoming.
