LANCASTER - It certainly wasn’t the ending coach Brett Rollins and his Lancaster girls basketball team was hoping for, as the Flying Arrows suffered a 46-44 season-ending loss to visiting Belleville last Tuesday night in the first round of the division 4 regional tournament.

As the No. 7 seed, Lancaster took a season record of 11-11 into Tuesday nights contest, while the tenth seeded Wildcats were 3-19.

Regardless of their opponent’s record, Lancaster had its hands full right from the start, as the two teams were tied at 9-9 after one quarter of play, and Lancaster trailed 24-22 at the half.

Going into the fourth quarter, both teams were knotted at 33-33, and it was the Wildcats outscoring Lancaster, 13-11 in the final eight minutes to collect the victory.

Senior guard Emily Martin led Lancaster with 17 points, while fellow senior Kate Noble added 11 and Tricia Petrowitz 10.

Coach Rollins loses four seniors from this year’s squad that include Martin, Noble, Petrowitz and Andrea Duncan.
