LA CROSSE – Lancaster senior Trenton Cornell remains perfect on the year, as he improved to 15-0 on the season after winning the 152-pound individual title at last week’s 32nd Annual Bi-State Classic.

Also winning an individual title at 182 pounds was Lancaster junior David Chadd, while senior Kyle Mezera brought home a second-place finish at 132 pounds.

Cornell (15-0) went 6-0 in the two-day tournament last Friday and Saturday, and in his championship match, won a 6-5 ultimate tie breaker over Cullen Pederson of New Lisbon, who is now 16-1 on the year.

Chadd also matched up with an undefeated wrestler in his 182-pound championship match, and won a 10-3 decision over Dalton Lunde (22-1) of Royall.

Like Cornell, Chadd also went 6-0 in the tournament, and is now 17-2 on the season.

At 132 pounds, Kyle Mezera advanced to his championship match after pinning George Farmah of Eastview in his semifinal match.

In his championship match, Mezera suffered a 9-3 loss to unbeaten Devin Bahr (23-0) of West Salem/Bangor, which dropped Mezera’s season record to 17-2.

Other place winners for Lancaster included sophomore Dustin Reynolds (14-6) who placed eighth in the 138-pound weight class, and junior Tyson Wolf (13-7), who placed 12th in the 120-pound weight class.

As a team, the Flying Arrows managed 169 total points, which was good enough for second place behind Stratford, who finished the meet with 236 points.

Next up for coach Brad Sturmer’s squad is a home dual meet against Belmont/Platteville on Thursday, Jan. 9. The Arrows will then host the 48th Annual Lancaster Invite on Saturday, Jan. 11.
