Platteville senior third baseman Sadie Holmes just beats the tag on this fourth inning steal of second base.

Senior Megan Schlueter had a fantastic all-around game at the plate and in the pitching circle, but it was junior Tessa Ostendorf that delivered the final blow in Platteville’s 4–3 eight-inning victory over Barneveld on Thursday evening.
Schlueter scored the game-winning run on Ostendorf’s walk-off single back through the box to cap a two-run eighth-inning rally.
Barneveld took a 3–2 lead in the top of the eighth on a two-out RBI single by Udelhoven.
Platteville went right to work in the home half of the eighth as sophomore Sierra Brecke drew a walk to lead off the inning, and Schlueter followed with a single, her third hit of the game.
Freshman Abby Wein reached on an error when she attempted a sacrifice bunt and Barneveld’s third baseman threw wildly to first base. Brecke scored on the play to tie the game at 3–3.
Five pitches later, on a 2–2 count, Ostendorf ripped a hard ground ball through the infield past second base to bring in the game-winning run.
Schlueter drove in Platteville’s first two runs with an RBI single in the first inning, and an RBI triple to deep center field in the third. She also picked up the win in the pitching circle thanks to seven strike outs. She allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits.
Monday evening Platteville and Schlueter were on the wrong side of a comeback as visiting Mount Horeb authored a 7–4 come-from-behind victory.
Platteville built a 3–1 lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Senior third baseman Sadie Holmes singled to lead off the inning, stole second and scored on junior catcher Madisen Moon’s RBI single to left field.
Sophomore center fielder Claire Tashner smashed an RBI triple to right field after two failed slap bunt attempts to make it 2–1, and Brecke plated Tashner with an RBI single.
Platteville’s 3–1 lead held until the sixth inning when the Vikings scored five runs on a wild pitch, a fielding error, a hit batter and six singles. Mount Horeb never trailed again.
Brecke went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs in the loss.
Schlueter (3–1) suffered her first loss of the season allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings of work. She struck out seven.
Platteville (3–2) traveled to Cuba City on Tuesday and will return to action Thursday at home against Potosi before participating in the Galena Invitational on Saturday.
