Platteville senior Vince Momot cleared a meet best 12 feet in the high jump to win the high jump relay with teammate Kevin Donovan at Fridays 50th Annual Platteville Relays. Momot and junior Dan Iselin also set a new meet record in the 2x3,200 relay with a winning time of 20:12.91 as the Hillmen swept boys and girls team titles.

PLATTEVILLE — Friday’s 50th Annual Platteville Relays was historic in nature and the host Hillmen made it one for the record books.

Celebrating half a century of one of the longest running high school track meets in the state, the host Hillmen swept both team titles at their unique invitational.

Each went is run as a relay, including field events, where distances and heights of two-person teams are combined to determine overall event winners.

The Platteville girls scored 121 points and dominated the competition finishing 48 points ahead of runner-up Cuba City (73).

The Hillmen boys held off a late charge from the Illinois co-op of Lena–Winslow (79) to win the boys’ title with 92 points.

“This was the best run Platteville Relays that I have been a part of,” said Platteville head coach Rob Serres, who was coaching in his 30th Relays. “The weather was perfect, and the meet ran smoothly. “I was very proud of our kids as they raced with intention. They carried on a tradition of Hillmen pride that we want every student-athlete to embrace. It’s always special to have the girls and boys teams win an invitational title at the same meet; it’s even more special when it’s your own invitational.”

Platteville senior Vince Momot was a part of three winning relays, including a meet-record-breaking performance in the 2x3,200 relay with junior Dan Iselin. The pair won the event in a new meet record time of 20:12.91.

Momot and Iselin teamed with senior Blake Julius and freshman Jace Serres to win the 4x800 relay in a time of 8:30.48. Momot also cleared a meet best 12 feet in the pole vault and along with senior Kevin Donovan won the event with a combined height of 22 feet.

Platteville’s 4x100 team of Marvin Kaye, Colin Thiele, Mike Musarra and Nick Mewhirter also won a gold medal with a winning time of 46.86 seconds.

Cole Gore and Logan Weaver won the 2x110 shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 34.32 seconds.

The Platteville girls won five events and finished second in eight others. Seniors Grace Hammermeister and Rachel Emendorfer, as well as sophomores Skye Digman and Hannah Langmeier were all two-event winners.

Grace Hammermeister and Hannah Langmeier won the 2x100 shuttle hurdle relay in the 39.31 seconds.

Emendorfer and Langmeier teamed up to win the triple jump relay with a combined distance of 60’5”. Emendorfer, Hammermeister, Maggie Durni and Brelynn Updike won the girls’ 4x400 relay in 4:18.19.

Digman and Anna Skubal won the discus relay with a distance of 191’11” and teamed with Rabia Mead to win the shot put relay with a distance of 60’7½”.

The Potosi girls scored 29 points and placed sixth out of nine varsity teams. Belmont scored 20 points and finished seventh.
