Lancaster and Potosi fans were treated to a basketball bonanza last Thursday afternoon and into the evening, as the price of admission included over five hours of action spread amongst four games.
    The Chieftains played host to not only the Lancaster varsity and J.V. boys’ basketball teams, but also the Lancaster varsity and J.V. girls.
    Action tipped off at 3:30 with the junior varsity girls’ game, followed by the junior varsity boys’ match-up, both of which were won by the Flying Arrows.
    Shortly after 6 p.m. coach Brad Bierman’s Lady Chieftains posted a 59-53 victory over coach Brett Rollins’ varsity Flying Arrows.
    The host Chieftains (4-3) held a 32-25 halftime lead, then outscored the Arrows, 15-12, in the third quarter to take a 47-37 lead into the fourth quarter.
    While Lancaster (3-4) mounted a valiant effort in the final eight minutes, but it wasn’t enough to avoid a six-point loss.
Leading the Potosi ladies in scoring was senior guard Ashley Flesch, who scored 16 points, while junior Abby Ames chipped in 14, and Bridget Curtis added nine.
    The Lancaster ladies were led by senior guard Kate Noble, who scored a game-high 20 points, and was 6-of-15 from beyond the 3-point arc. Noble also had six boards and dished out a team-high seven assists.
    Emily Martin was close behind with 17 points, Tricia Petrowitz added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
    As a team, the Lancaster ladies made 19-of-62 (31%) shot attempts, including 12-of-32 (37.5%) from downtown.
    The nightcap involved the Coach Justin Burress’ Lancaster varsity boys taking on the Potosi varsity squad coached by Mike Uppena.
    The Flying Arrows took a 39-32 lead into the fourth quarter, where the two teams combined to score 41 points in the final eight minutes.
    By the time the clock had hit all zeros, Lancaster held on for a 61-51 victory.
    Senior Wes Schnepper led the Arrows with 18 points and 15 rebounds for an impressive double-double. Junior guard A.J. Day added 14 points and three assists, while Logan Thole chipped in five points.
    As a team, the Arrows made 22-of-58 (38%) field goal attempts, including 8-of-23 (35%) 3-pointers.
    Leading Potosi in defeat was junior guard Mitch Langkamp, who scored 12 points, while Tom Keene added 11 and Spencer Hawes nine.
