Wrestlers kick off season with Boscobel Invite

Members of the CC-SW wrestling team participated in the first meet recently.

The Cuba City-Southwestern wrestling team kicked off the 2011-12 season at last Saturday's Boscobel Invite, where they went 3-2 against the likes of Prairie du Chien (4-1), Boscobel (3-2), Fennimore (3-2), De Soto (2-3) and Sugar River (0-5).
Coach Bob Hahn's squad started the day off with a 43-30 victory over Boscobel, then followed up with a 48-24 win over Sugar River.
They suffered their first loss of 45-27 to Prairie du Chien, and after a 42-41 victory over De Soto, lost 46-33 to Fennimore.
Four wrestlers from Cuba City-Southwestern went undefeated on Saturday with one other going 4-1.
Seniors Jared Donar (145 pounds) and Scott Digman (152 pounds) both went 5-0 with five pins on the day, while sophomore J.J. Donar (13 pounds) collected three forfeits, one pin and a 5-0 decision for a perfect mark.
Fellow sophomore Brett Wilson (152 pounds) also went 5-0 on the day with two pins, one forfeit and two wins by decision.
Going 4-1 on Saturday at 160 pounds was sophomore Lucus Kastner, whose only loss was a 12-4 decision to an opponent from Fennimore.
This Thursday night the co-op squad will host Iowa-Grant, then on Saturday will participate in the Sugar River Invite in Belleville.
