Spring is just around the corner and just as we have the crack of dawn, Feb 17 will be the Second Annual Crack of Spring Corn meeting, sponsored by University of Wisconsin-Extension (UWEX) in Crawford, Grant and Richland counties from   9:45 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Gays Mills Community Commerce Center, 16381 State Hwy. 131, Suite 1, Gays Mills.

Topics to be reviewed will be tips on using flexible leases as an option for land rentals presented by UWEX Crops and Farm Management Agent Ted Bay.

UWEX State Corn Specialist Joe Lauer will review recent research that area producers will find useful for managing the priorities of corn production for the 2016 cropping year. Maximum production may not be economical or prudent for this season.

Knowing what the buzz is for land rental rates is important as margins are again squeezed. UWEX Ag Agent Vance Haugen will share what he has been hearing from land owners and renters this fall and winter.

The full schedule can be found on the Crawford County UW-Extension website: http://crawford.uwex.edu/

The meeting is open to all area farmers. For more information, contact Vance Haugen, Crawford County UW-Extension Agriculture Agent, at 608-326-0223 or by e-mail: vance.haugen@ces.uwex.edu
