Partners for Prevention host Second Annual National Night out at UW Platteville Richland
On Tuesday, August 2 a predicted crowd of around 500 people attended Richland County’s National Night Out at the UW Platteville/Richland campus. The event demonstrated tremendous support for the importance of community partnerships. New this year was the walk/run, a fundraiser for the local canine units. One hundred five people ran or walked the 5 K on a hot Tuesday evening. The Road Runner even participated! Several community residents sprinkled the runners/walkers as they came through Allison Park ending through a tunnel of balloons. People enjoyed a delicious taco buffet prepared by the UW Platteville/Richland Food Service, beverages such as WiscoPop, root beer floats made by the 4-H, and other sparkling waters. Kids enjoyed the bouncy house, bungee run, dunk tank, and everyone enjoyed the music by DJs Nee and Gutknecht and Three Souls, line dancing, and vehicle/organization displays. Resource tables scattered through the campus grounds offered materials and information. “Last year was our first year, and we planned for 100 people. We were very pleased that 252 people came. This year, we prepared for 500 and were very happy with the results. We hope to keep building on our success in engaging the community with prevention.” said National Night Out Chair Jo Ann Krulatz. “We hope everyone will save the 2023 National Night Out date, Tuesday, August 1st. “
