NORTH CRAWFORD - The North Crawford Playhouse is presenting Disney’s Beauty and the Beast this fall.

The show follows the well-known cartoon and opens with the haughty Prince (Dominic Carstens) being cursed to a hideous beast form by an Enchantress (Elissa Erikson), who sees no love in his arrogant heart for anyone. The one way he can break the spell is to learn to love another and earn her love in return. This he must do before the last petal from the enchanted rose falls. But who could ever learn to love a beast?
Ten years later, our beautiful maiden, Belle (Rachel Peterson) is stuck in a nearby village and dreaming of adventure. The arrogant young hero, the admiration of all, Gaston (Clayton Herfel) has his sights set on marrying Belle, except that Gaston is not Belle’s idea of a husband. Gaston and his faithless sidekick Lefou (Marco Esparza) spend a good deal of time stalking Belle.
Belle’s father, Maurice (Liam O’Brien), becomes lost in the woods and seeks shelter in the Beast's castle. The Beast (Gavin Forkash) imprisons him for trespassing. Belle (Rachel Peterson), searches and finds her father trapped in the castle. She offers to take his place in prison in exchange for his freedom.
As a prisoner, Belle is befriended by a whole castle full of people who have also been transformed into furniture and houseware: Cogsworth (Martha Bransky), Lumiere (Brennah Ghormley), Mrs. Potts (Elena Esparza), Chip (Faith Morga), the Wardrobe (Nora O’Brien) and many others. They all hope Belle might be the one to love the Beast and break the spell and set them all free.
Even the Beast realizes that she is his only chance–but who could ever learn to love a beast?
