The Boscobel Room Tax Planning and Appropriation Committee met Feb. 25 to approve $22,244 in 2013 Room Tax Grants.

The meeting began with Chamber of Commerce board members Tom Richter, Laura Steele and Barb O’Kane presenting the Chamber 2012 Income and Expense Statement indicating total expenses of $37,791. Because of recent employee issues, exact tourism-related expenditures were not available. However, board members were confident that they spent more than the $16,000 received from Room Tax revenues in 2012 on tourism-related items.

The Commission was informed that there was $21,598 collected in room taxes in 2012, a 4.87 percent decrease from 2011.

Representatives from various groups in attendance made their cases for some of the funding. Recipients included:

•Boscobel Chamber of Commerce: $14,500;

•Discover Wisconsin TV/Radio/Internet advertising project: $3,000;
