Learn how to make maple syrup
Bill Meyer will share his knowledge about making maple syrup at an event at My Fine Homestead March 26.

BLUE RIVER - Spend a fun afternoon seeing how sap makes its journey from tapping and filtering through evaporation and testing to become a local, full-bodied, robust maple syrup. Then taste the results atop some delicious ice cream.

The farm is open from 1-3. The tree tapping and maple syrup demonstration begins at 1:30. This event will be held rain or shine on March 26 at My Fine Homestead, 32727 Byrds Creek Valley Drive, Blue River, WI 53518. There is no entrance fee, but a freewill donation is humbly requested to help offset the costs of the event.

Participants can also explore the farm and meet the homestead animals: baby goats and piglets, 8-week-old puppies, sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and barnyard cats. See if you can find a freshly laid egg or figure out what kind of seedlings have been started in the greenhouse.

This event is sponsored by Savor the River Valley, a grass-roots initiative to promote farmers, food processors, food retailers and restaurants in the River Valley. For more information on this and other awesome events, classes, and food, go to www.savortherivervalley.org.
