Thirty-five years later, Cardin's Pharmacy still upholds that same great friendly service they had when started back in 1976. In honor of their 35-year anniversary, Cardin's Pharmacy is celebrating with a one-day event at their Cuba City location.
According to Dennis Cardin, the pharmacy has been in Cuba City since 1970. It was originally located in the Cuba City Hospital but then moved to their location at Dr. Bob Schroeder's where they rented space, and they are now located at 117 W. Webster.
Cardin's began with Paul Cardin in 1960 when he opened the first location in Platteville before expanding to Cuba City. Following the death of his father in 1988, Dennis took over the family run business and has upheld the friendly atmosphere ever since. "We're a pharmacy and we plan to stay that way," said Cardin who plans on not expanding to include any household items or items that can be found at the other local retail stores.
In 2007 they decided to build a new store in Cuba City and so they did in 2008 when they moved to a more spacious location across from the post office in Cuba City.
The Cuba City location staffs two pharmacists. Jon Wilson has managed the store since 2000 and Mary Kay Biddick joined the staff in 2005. Pharmacy technicians include Rose Beinborn, Peggy Kelly, Heather LeMay, and Lisa Wright. "Many of our employees are long-standing residents of the communities we serve and that is a great testiment to our commitment to service," said Cardin.
On Friday, Sept. 9 from 3-6:30 p.m. customers can sign up to win various prizes including a GPS system, Kid's Razor scooter and a digital camera. There will also be a free tote bag giveaway (while supplies last) and hamburgers and brats will be available which are being sponsored by the KC's. Also on site will be face painting, kids color sheets and ice cream sponsored by the Lutheran Church.
