The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua is seeking the public’s help to identify a young man suspected of child enticement in rural De Soto Sept. 5.

According to a press release, an 11-year-old girl was walking on a driveway off Co. N near Retreat when she was approached by an unknown man driving a dark green four-door passenger car with rust on it.

According to the girl, the man told her that her parents had sent him to give her a ride home. The girl did not enter the car and returned home safely.

Authorities are seeking the driver of the vehicle, who is described as being a male youth in his mid-to-late teens with dark brown hair and a clean-shaven face. The man was wearing sunglasses at the time of the incident.

The vehicle’s windows may have been tinted,  and its body style is described as being consistent with a  late 1990s-early 2000s Ford Taurus or Pontiac Grand Prix.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office at 608-637-2123 or Vernon County Crime Stoppers at 608-637-8477. Those providing tips can remain anonymous and may be eligible for cash rewards.
